ANIMAL
LORE
“I’d say your pet bear is unhappy.”
“You think so? After all, he’s only trying to bite off my leg.”
Animal Lore, the study of the beasts of Britannia, is a highly useful skill
for tamers and an intriguing pastime for scholars as well. With knowledge
of animal lore, you may detect useful information about tamed creatures
and, at higher skills, wild creatures. You may also use the skill to measure
the loyalty of tamed pets.

Loyalty and Animal Lore
Animal Lore is a handy skill by which tamers may keep watch on the loyalty
of their pets. A pet that has lost loyalty to its master is more likely
to turn wild than a loyal pet. To raise a pet’s loyalty, you should:
Keep the pet well fed
Issue acceptable commands to the pet
Your pet’s loyalty drops if you:
Fail to feed the pet.
Issue commands the pet cannot or will not follow.
Leave your pet’s line of sight for long periods of time.
To use Animal Lore to determine your pet’s loyalty, use the following scale:
| If your pet is… |
