MINING
Seams of ore lie buried in the mines, mountains and caves of Britannia. The skilled miner seeks out these veins to harvest ore, which can then be smelted to ingots for use in crafting items with the Blacksmithing skill.
The Tools
The pickaxe and shovel are quite useful for digging ore out of rocky nooks.

Using Mining
To mine a rock formation for ore:
Place a shovel or pickaxe in your inventory.
Double-click the shovel or pickaxe.
Target the mountainside or cave wall.
If you are successful and have space available in your inventory, a pile of ore appears in your inventory. The size and type of ore mined depend upon your skill level and location.
Smelting Ingots
Once you’ve acquired a pack full of ore, you’ll want to smelt it into ingots. To do so:
Stand near a forge.
Double-click a pile of ore in your pack.
The amount of ingots created is dependent on your Mining skill. Additionally, it may require several attempts to smelt a complete pile of ore.
Smelting Success Rates
The following table shows the smelting success rates for each ore at different skill levels. Notice the difference for Golden between 100 and 105 skill. You'll fail it twice as often at 100 skill as you would at 105 -- you fail 20% of the time at 100 skill, and 10% of the time at 105 skill.
