You may create multiple copies of the same item by clicking the box labeled “Make Last” in your blacksmith menu. At a high level of skill, you may create exceptional items and mark them with a maker’s mark identifying you as the creator of the item. Click the appropriate button on your blacksmithy menu to toggle this ability on or off, or to set it so that you are prompted each time you craft an exceptional item. Note: You will not be able to craft any items if your backpack already contains the limit of 125 items. Craftable Items Below is a list of the items a blacksmith can create, the materials required, and the minimum skill level needed. Each ore type has an inherent set of magical properties that can be transferred to an item when the blacksmith chooses to enhance something. To enhance a weapon or piece of armor: If successful, the item will be imbued with magical properties. However, failure can result in the loss of the item. The difficulty of enhancing an item is dependent upon the type of ore being used and how many magic properties the item already has. You can read more about enhancing items and item properties by visiting the Item Properties section of the Playguide. Repairing Items Repairing items requires ingots, so be sure you have a few ready in your backpack. To repair an item using the Blacksmithing skill: If unsuccessful, the item you are trying to repair will receive one point of permanent damage to its maximum durability rating. This one point of damage will be incurred each time you fail a repair. If successful, you will repair the item. The degree of repair is dependent on your Blacksmithing skill. Even if you successfully repair the item, there is a chance it will receive a point of permanent durability damage, depending on the amount of damage repaired and your blacksmithing skill. The lower your skill or the higher amount of damage that needs to be repaired, the greater the chance the item will receive permanent damage. Smelting Items Tired of your old armor? Smelt it back to ingots! To smelt an item back to ingots: The amount of ingots smelted from an item is dependent on your Mining skill level, the condition of the item being smelted, and the type of metal used to create the item. For more information on smelting, see the Mining skill. Rare Metals There are various types of metal found in Britannia, some quite rare. These metals may be smelted to ingots and used to create colored items. As these metals are rare, they may require a greater skill in Blacksmithing to understand and manipulate the ingots into fine crafted items. Repair Service Contracts One of the cornerstones of Ultima Online is the activity of players sharing items with other players in order to obtain repairs for their armor and weapons. A supplement to these transactions exits in the form of “repair service contracts”. Players can create repair service contracts by using the blacksmithing skill and by performing the following steps:
Blacksmiths will not gain any skill by creating these contracts. And they cannot be sold on player vendors. In order to use a repair service contract, you must be standing in an NPC blacksmith or armorer shop. Then, just double-click the contract and target the item that you want to repair. The used repair service contract will disappear after use. Bulk Order Deeds The basic concept of the bulk order system is that players who interact with certain crafting-based NPC shopkeepers will, on random occasions, be offered the opportunity to fulfill "bulk order deeds" (also known as "BODs"). In return for completing these BODs, the player will receive special rewards as compensation. Each time you sell an item to an Armorer or Blacksmith NPC, you’ll have a random chance to receive a bulk order deed. Complete the deed and return it to the NPC for your reward. You can find complete information on the Bulk Order system here.
